Inspired by a mystical place

As the name suggests, the Weitzmann Koenigssee draws inspiration from the scenic beauty of the Koenigssee. Its sandblasted shimmering black clock face reflects in blue, thus emulating the surface of a deep lake.

The watch is waterproof even though it employs a crown to change time. Skilled craftsmen at Weitzmann have used a screw down safety crown that acts as a seal as soon as the case locks with the gaskets and internal threads of the crown. It is perfect for swimming, snorkeling as well as hiking in wet weather.
The luminescent arms as well as markers on the dial allow you to see the time easily when under water or in a dark place. It also displays the date at the 3 o’clock position.

The hardened mineral glass crystal sits proudly on top of the case finishing off the exquisite look of the Weitzmann Koenigsee model.

Königssee - Lake of the King

Koenigsee is situated in the south-eastern German province of Bavaria, the state that has been home to the Weitzmann artisans for centuries. It is Germany’s third deepest lake and is renowned for being the cleanest lake in the country. It is surrounded by tall limestone mountains that add to the picturesque beauty of the lake. For the many adventurous tourists that make their way to the lake every year, there are enough hiking tracks, waterfalls and swimming areas to keep themselves busy.

This jewel of the Bavarian Alps has been the favorite spot of recreation not only for the local rulers of Berchtesgaden but also for the Bavarian royalty. It also houses the St Bartholomew church and hunting lodge on the western shore, properties that initially belonged to the prince-bishops of Salzburg and afterwards to the kings of Bavaria. It has always remained a symbol of outdoor recreation for the German aristocrats.

The above mentioned historical value, exclusivity and elite status of the lake are the inspiration behind the luxurious Weitzmann’s Koenigsee Black wristwatch.

Handling and Care

Mechanical self-winding watches are manufactured with extreme care and skillful handiwork. The amount of detail involved in the process can be judged from the fact that adding a simple date function to a mechanical wristwatch can add over a hundred extra pieces to its mechanism! When so much detail is involved, it is but natural to look after it with care. Here are a few things you should always keep in mind to ensure your mechanical timepiece keeps running at its best for a very long time.

Wear It!
The best way to ensure that the mechanism runs at its best at all times is to just wear the watch. Any machine that stays in service is unlikely to cause any trouble. Lack of use brings in issues like rust and lack of lubrication. As long as you are using your wristwatch, its tiny mechanical parts will stay lubricated and not cause trouble.
In case you have to manually wind your automatic watch, such as after not using it for a long time, make sure you only give it a few turns until you feel resistance. Do not in any case over-wind the watch.

Routine Maintenance
Just like your car needs regular oil change, your wristwatch needs regular maintenance. Self-winding watches are complicated so it’s best to take them to a watch repair shop every two years or so and get them serviced. The repair guy can look for rusty parts or re-lubricate the parts. It is advisable to change the rubber seal for improved water resistance.

Clean it Yourself Regularly
Cleaning the watch yourself is pretty simple. Just take a soft cloth and use warm water with a little soap in it. For the leather, the best way to wash it is to put it in a mixture of warm water and white vinegar, then wipe it clean with a soft cloth.
After swimming or doing water sports, don’t forget to wipe the watch clean. The chlorine or other salts present in the water can cause damage if they dry up on the surface of the watch.

Avoid Shock and Extreme Temperature Variations
Avoid shocks and sudden movements when wearing the watch. If you play sports like Golf or Tennis that involve sudden and jerky movements of the wrist, try not to wear the watch during the game.
Extreme temperature variations can disturb the mechanical parts of any machine and wrist watches aren’t any different. Avoid wearing them in the Jacuzzi or sauna.

The Manual is Your Best Friend
Don’t forget to read the manual that comes with it. It should contain all the information you’ll need to take the best care of the watch. Moreover, it will also tell you what to do if the watch stops working properly.
